Joseph Van Meter born March - - 1723 died Nov. 16, 1798 married 1741 Letitia Strode born Sept. 30, 1725 died Dec. 25, 1799 (the dau. of James Strode Sr. who died Dec. 1789), their 11th child was John Van Meter born 1764 in Frederick now Berkeley Co., Va. near Shepherdstown, died Grayson Co., Ky after 1806 who married in 1784 Mrs. Dinah Holtzclaw House.

Thomas Rhoades Van Meter and his wife Harriet Allen had a son Joseph Warren Van Meter born March 4, 1837 Harrison Township, Ark. died Jan. 4, 1900 Harrison Township, White Co., Ark. who married Jan. 17, 1866 Amanda Langham born Oct. 26, 1848 Augusta, Ark. died Feb. 12, 1929 Harrison Township, White Co., Ark.  Their daughter Mrs. Ruth Van Meter Dunaway lives in Washington, D.C.
