Vera VanMeter, 90, of Bloomfield, passed away Sunday, Feb.
29, 8:40 a.m. at her residence.
Born Jan. 17, 1914 in Solsberry, she was the daughter of
Lester and Della (Campbell) Jenkins.
She was a retired schoolteacher. She also had a BA Degree in
Elementary Education and her master's in special education. She
worked six years as a Greene County social worker. She was a
member of the Bloomfield Professional Women, the Eastern Star in
Solsberry, Kappa Kappa Gamma, local and state Retired Teachers
Association, and a member of the First Christian Church in
Bloomfield.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph E. VanMeter of
Bloomfield; one son, Jerry Beard of Bloomfield; two grandsons,
Bart Beard of Linton and Brad Beard of Bloomfield; four great
grandchildren, Ashlea Beard of Linton, Bradlea Beard of Linton,
Patrick Beard of Bloomfield, and Justin Beard of Bloomfield; and
one sister, Kathryn Hudson of Solsberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ward
"Blue", James, Rex, and infant Herbert Jenkins; and two sisters,
Lucile Hudson and Bernice Jenkins.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Jenkins
and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Billy Ed
Hostettler, Rev. Danny Caulkins, and Rev. Arlen Pope
officiating.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 9 a.m.
until the time of service.

Greene County Hospice.
