Van Meter, Agnes E., 87, homemaker, formerly of Tulsa, died Wednesday in Owasso. Service 11 a.m. Friday, Christian-Gavlik Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow.

Agnes Elvira, 87, Homemaker, formerly of Tulsa, died Wednesday at the Mimosa Assisted Living Center in Owasso. Funeral service for Mrs. Van Meter will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at the Christian-Gavlik Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Calvin Easley and Pastor Toby Easley officiating. Interment will follow in the Floral Haven Cemetery. Funeral service and interment are under the direction of the Christian-Gavlik Funeral Home in Broken Arrow. Mrs. Van Meter was born July 29, 1915 in Waukomis, OK, to Elmer and Mabel (Payne) Mikkelsen. She attended and graduated from Tonkawa High School. She furthered her education by graduating from college. She met Andrew Paul Van Meter and was united in marriage on May 31, 1934 in Newkirk, OK. They made their home in Enid before moving to Tulsa in 1938. The Van Meter family were members of the Tulsa Baptist Temple for many years. She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian and loved to read her Bible. Mrs. Van Meter was an accomplished cook and put her family above all else. Mrs. Van Meter is survived by: 2 sons, James and Myron, both of Tulsa; 2 sisters, Erma Bryant of Owasso, and Lois Hollar of Hutchinson, KS; 2 brothers, Loran Mikkelsen of Kansas City, KS and Gene Mikkelsen of Tulsa; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs. Van Meter was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Andrew Paul Van Meter; 2 sons, Gerald Wesley Van Meter and Elmer Dean Van Meter; and a daughter, Patricia Gale Van Meter.
