Allen Ray VanMeter

 

Allen Ray VanMeter, 68, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, in his sleep.

 

He was born March 30, 1943, to George Ray and Lois (McCammon) VanMeter.

 

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene; daughters, Dawn Warren and her husband, Dana, and Cindra Hiatt and her husband, Jim; and one son, Allen VanMeter II and his wife, Rhonda. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Kassissieh and her husband, Joe; five grandchildren, Dania Shea and her husband, Ryan, Jerree and John Hiatt and Trey and Abby VanMeter; and two great-grandchildren, Cara and Cody Shea.

 

He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1961. Allen was retired as an operations supervisor from Hoosier Energy after 31 years. He belonged to the Sullivan Elks, Carlisle Oddfellows and the Carlisle Conservation Club.

 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Banks and Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, with the Rev. Harold Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow IOOF Cemetery in Carlisle. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Banks and Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan.
