Charles Allen Van Meter

 

Charles Allen Van Meter was born on June 24, 1984 and died on June 26, 2011 from injuries sustained in a car wreck. Charles was a graduate of Pearland High School and San Jacinto Community College, and was only one semester from graduation from the University of Houston. He was a proud member of the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department, which he joined in 2006. He completed SWAT training and was assigned to the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team. In addition to his job as a Peace Officer, Charles enjoyed camping, music, making people laugh, and spending time with his sister, Amanda Morris, and a host of close family members and dear friends. In his short life, he touched the hearts of many people, and he will always be fondly remembered. The family will receive visitors at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Friday, July 1, from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held at that location Saturday, July 2 at 2PM. Pallbearers are Tim Madrid, Bryan Mitchell, Brandon Sasser, Leonard Bustos, Dick Rudenko, and Clint Pledger. Honorary Pallbearers are Josh Waldrop and the Officers and Employees of the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office. In lieu of flowers, the family will deeply appreciate donations in honor of Charles to the Brazoria County 100 Club at P.O. Box 1596, Lake Jackson, Tx. 77566; Phone 979-297-5910.
