Elta Mae Van Meter
Elta Mae Van Meter, 85, of Bee Spring, died Nov. 4, 2010, in Leitchfield.
The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a member of Bee Spring Missionary
Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Pink Hayes and Lillie Ashley
Hayes and the wife of the late Ted Van Meter. She was preceded in death by a
son, Douglas Van Meter; three brothers, Glen, Jerry and Boyd Hayes; and two
sisters, Pug Harp and Bobbie Brooks.
Funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jock United Baptist Church, with burial in Jock
Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and is from 9 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. Saturday at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville chapel.

Survivors include a son, Sherbert Van Meter and his wife, Linda, of Bee Spring;
a daughter, Marcia Higdon of Leitchfield; a brother, Frank Hayes and his wife,
Diane, of Bowling Green; two sisters, Roberta Decker and her husband, Wilburn,
of Mammoth Cave and Patsy Carroll of Bee Spring; four grandchildren, Jackie Van
Meter and his wife, Tammy, Tracie Godby and her husband, Mark, David Higdon and
Kevin Higdon and his wife, Marlene; and seven great-grandchildren.
