Emmett Grant Van Meter
Emmett Grant VanMeter, 79, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Thursday, March 24,
2005 at Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood, W.Va.
Mr. VanMeter was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Smoke Hole, W.Va., and was a son of the
late Jacob Harrison VanMeter and Zernie Alice Alt VanMeter.
He was a logger and was employed at Huffman Logging in Petersburg.
Survivors include his former wife, Telbie M. VanMeter of Grant County Nursing
Home; three sons, Daniel E. VanMeter and James F. VanMeter, both of Petersburg,
and Terry J. VanMeter, of Pendleton Nursing Home, Franklin, W.Va.; four
daughters, Zernie "Maggie" Wratchford of Cabins, W.Va., Sandra J. Moyers of
Scherr, W.Va., and Abigail Conrad and Penny L. Morral, both of Petersburg; three
sisters: Zadie Helmick of Middletown, Evelyn Bargeron and Judy Helmick, both of
Petersburg; three brothers, Archie VanMeter, Coye VanMeter and Donald VanMeter,
all of Cabins, W.Va.; 15 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
The Rev. Stanley Kile will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at the
Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will be at South Branch
Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
