Floyd E. Van Metre

INWOOD, W.Va. - Floyd E. "Sonny" VanMetre, 67, of Inwood, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at the home of his niece, Tina Allen.
Born July 18, 1937, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Everett Floyd and Margaret C. Shawyer VanMetre.
He was employed for 42 years as a truck driver by the Western Conference of Teamsters. He was honored with several 1 million mile driver's safety awards.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the 101st Airborne Jump School.
He is survived by his wife, Judith L. VanMetre of Riverside, Calif.; two brothers, John VanMetre and Earl VanMetre, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; six nieces; and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris J. VanMetre.
A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
