Geraldine May Van Meter

Geraldine May Van Meter, 89, a long time resident of Nevada passed away on May 19, 2006 in San Felipe BCN, Mexico. She was born on January 12, 1917 in Sacramento, Ca to Lorrane and Amos Slippy. She follows her beloved husband of 63 years, Horace (Harry) G. Van Meter who passed away 2001, also a son, Michael Madison in 1983 (whom she cared for several years after he was hurt in a trampoline accident which left him a quadriplegic.

At a young age, she relocated to Yerington and then Virginia City where she attended the Fourth Ward School. Her remaining years were spent in Reno. She was a devoted wife and mother and over the years worked in a flower shop, was a sales lady and became an accomplished seamstress at Singer. She served on the Grand Jury for 8 years and president of the local civic club and belonged to Eastern Star.

She is survived by her daughter Andrea Danek of Calimesa, Ca. and her son Patrick Van Meter of San Felipe, Mexico, her brother Charles Welsh of Reno and half-sister Laline McGrew of Elverta, Ca., also six grand children, thirteen great-grand children and four great-great grandchildren. No service is planned but condolences may be sent to 3224 Clan Alpine Dr., Sparks, NV 89434.
