Isaac Newton Van Meter

 

VANMETER, I. N. died at his home, 6 miles northeast of Macomb in Macomb Twp. on December 13th aged 80 years. He was born 14 June 1815 in Grayson Co., Kentucky and grew to manhood there. He married Miss Lucinda Lawson, sister of David and Cyrus A. Lawson of Macomb. He came with his family to Illinois in 1855 and settled on the farm where he died. He was the father of 11 children - one, Emma, died in infancy; Henry died in the Army; and Susie (grown) died about four years ago. He is survived by his wife and 8 children - Miles H. of Denver Colorado; Cyrus L. of Macomb Twp; Mrs. Mary Shields of Macomb; Mrs. Sarah Runkle of Macomb Twp; Hiram of Gunnison, Colorado; David of Macomb; Mattie who lives at the homestead; and Mrs. Hattie Fuhr of Macomb Twp. He had been a Baptist minister for over 50 years. The funeral was Saturday with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery.
