Jack R. Van Meter

Jack R. Van Meter, age 73, of Yucaipa, Calif., passed away on October 10, 2006, following a stroke and complications. After graduating from West High School in 1951, he joined the Air Force from which he retired and settled in California after his last tour of duty in the Philippines. Jack was preceded in death by parents George D. Sr. and Emma Jane (Murdock) Van Meter, 5 brothers Arnold, George Jr., Walter, Paul and Charles, 2 sisters Garnet Van Meter and Ethel Schumann and a daughter Tamara Huber. He is survived by his wife, Nellie; sons, Phil (Ann), Dennis (Kim), Jeffrey (Tina); and sisters, Jane (Becky) Herren and Irma (Bill) Taylor; step-children, Christine, John, Kathy and Gail; step-grandchildren, especially Tyler; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
