Jerry Van Meter
Dec. 5, 1957-Jan. 26, 2004
Jerry "Les" Van Meter, 46, of 206 Jump St., died Monday at home. He was born to
the late Charles A. Van Meter and Janet L. (Frost) Groves.
He is survived by brothers Bill (Dona) Van Meter of Southport, N.C., John
(Robin) Van Meter of Bucyrus sisters Nancy Smathers and Sue (Garvan) Bollinger,
both of Bucyrus nieces and nephews Curtus Smathers, Jennifer Logan, Abby and
Jenna Bollinger, Ashton, Allison, Sydney, Barry, Brian, and Elizabeth Van Meter
a stepmother, Carol Van Meter, and stepfather Benton Groves, both of Bucyrus.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one niece, Amy Van Meter.
Les worked at Blackhawk Automotive Plastics in Upper Sandusky, lived his entire
life in Bucyrus, attended Bucyrus High School and was a member of the Bucyrus
Moose Lodge 669 and a life member of the North American Hunting Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. Burial
will be in Oceola Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday,
where the family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. Moose ritual
services well be observed at 6:45 p.m. Friday.
The family suggests memorials be in the form of contributions to the American
Diabetes Association or Relay for Life through the funeral home.
