John Henry VanMeter

John Henry VanMeter, 63, of Upper Tract, W. Va., died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at his home.

He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Onego, W. Va., and was the son of Lossie VanMeter of Upper Tract, W. Va., and the late Joy Huffman VanMeter. He was a masonry worker for 42 years, and attended Brushy Run Church of God. On Sept. 2, 1979, he married Sandra Poole VanMeter, who survives.

Also surviving are seven daughters, Pamela Joy Cornejo of Akron, Tamara Sipple of Norton, Teresa Penny VanMeter of Norton, Lisa Singer of Copley, Tonya Cozart of Akron, Jackie Arbogast of Arbovale, W. Va., and Rachel VanMeter of Upper Tract, W. Va.; one son, Ronald Thompson of Petersburg, W. Va.; two sisters, Bonnie Knight of Akron and Joann Street of Massillon; three brothers, Jim VanMeter of Akron, Garry VanMeter of Lewisville, Ohio, and Warren VanMeter of Franklin, W. Va.; 10 grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one daughter.

Funeral services were held in West Virginia on Tuesday, March 26, 2002, with Rev. Bruce Cosner officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, W. Va. (304-358-7898.)
