Lois Van Meter

Lois Van Meter, 70, Kansas City, MO,passed away April 30, 2010 at The Garden Valley Manor from lung cancer. Mrs. Van Meter was born August 17, 1939 in Newport, AR, to Virgil and Geneva Mae Higgins. She retired in 2005 from the Dry Cleaning business. Lois
loved to plant flowers, sew and cook for her children. She also loved "Elvis Music"
and John Wayne.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Floyd Higgins; and a sister, Geneva Van Hooser. She leaves behind her 3 sons: Wilbur G. Johnson (Brenda), Larry D. Van Meter (Kerry), and Roger W. Van Meter (Bridget). She is also survived by her daughter, Lanita Trotter. She had nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Karen Nester; and her dog, Brandi.

The family would like to thank her friend, Karen, for all the care she gave Lois during her 5 year illness. Thanks also to The Crossroads Hospice and the Staff at St. Luke's Northland Hospital.

At Lois's request, there will not be a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway, Suite 300, Kansas City, MO 64114. (Arr.
