Margaret Eleanor Van Metre
Margaret Eleanor Van Metre, 77, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 6,
2002, at her home.
Mrs. Van Metre was born March 27, 1925, in Jefferson County, W.Va., the daughter
of Garland M. and Emma Goode Whitmore. She had worked at National Fruit Product
Co., Capital Records, C.H. Musselman, and the Old Stone Restaurant.
She was a 1943 graduate of Charles Town High School and attended Shepherd
College. She was an active member of Rest United Methodist Church in Ridgeway,
W.Va.
She was married to Douglas R. Van Metre, who died May 7, 1991.
Surviving are three sons, Robert D. Van Metre, G. Fred Van Metre, and Terry Van
Metre, all of Bunker Hill; a brother, Paul M. Whitmore of Charles Town; and a
sister, Gladys Frazier of Ranson, W.Va.; three grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg,
with the Rev. Nancy Compher officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Renner, Richard Lemon, Robert Coe, William Hite,
Raymond Davy, and Dart Beasley.
The family will receive from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Berkeley County or to Rest United Methodist
Church.
