Marietta Van Meter

Marietta Van Meter, 81, of Cantrall died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Villa Nursing Home in Sherman.

She was born Oct. 28, 1922, in Springfield, the daughter of Charles and Augusta Powell Shaw. She married Charles Van Meter; he died in 1987.

Mrs. Van Meter was a graduate of Springfield High School. She was a member of the Sangamon County Home Extension, Cantrall United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Young Married Couples at the church.

Survivors: three sons, Rich (wife, Jerilyn) of Athens, Jerry (wife, Judy) of Sherman and John (wife, Lois) of Cantrall; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Merle Shaw of Springfield and William Shaw of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Mott and Henning Funeral Home, Athens, the Rev. Gloria Davis officiating. Burial: Fancy Creek Cemetery, near Sherman.
