Martha Chenoweth Van Meter, 76, of 24 Point Drive, Petersburg,
W.Va., died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg,
W.Va.
Mrs. Van Meter was born June 9, 1927, in Elkins, W.Va., and was the daughter of
the late Sterling and Eva Newlon Chenoweth.
She was a dietician for 31 years at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School, Potomac State and West Virginia
University. She was a member of Petersburg Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, David Peerce Van Meter III, preceded her in death on April 28,
2002.
Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Sue Gobert of Houston, Texas; four sons,
Charles Allen Van Meter of Boston, Mass., David Peerce Van Meter IV of
Petersburg, W.Va., Chenoweth Sterling Van Meter of San Jose, Calif., and Wilson
Hopkins Van Meter of Petersburg, W.Va., and eight grandchildren.
The Rev. Richard Cardot will conduct the memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday at
Petersburg Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
Her body was cremated at Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va.
Memorial contributions may be made to the George Moomau Library or Grant
Memorial Hospital.
