Maxine Van Meter

Maxine Adah Van Meter, 80, of Franklin, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va.

Mrs. Van Meter was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Fisher, Ill., and was the daughter of the late Jack Henry Beyers and Pearl Miller Beyers.

She retired from the Hanover Shoe Company, where she was a sewing machine operator. She was a member of the Brushy Run Church of God.

Her first husband, Roy Jacob Kimble, preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1991.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Melvin Van Meter; two sons, Wayne H. Kimble of Franklin, W.Va., and Gary Graber of Galax; a brother, Leslie Junior Beyers of Saltese, Mont.; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Gary Phillips will conduct the funeral 7 p.m. Friday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, W.Va. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract, W.Va.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
