Melvin J. VanMeter
Melvin J. VanMeter, 71, of Franklin, W.Va., died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006,
Mozer, W.Va.
Mr. VanMeter was born May 31, 1935, in Maysville, W.Va., and was the son of the
late Claude VanMeter and Angie Davis VanMeter.
He was a retired timberman and carpenter.
His wife, Maxine Adah Beyers VanMeter, preceded him in death April 5, 2006.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn C. Heavner of Moorefield, W.Va., and
Phyllis Marie Heavner of Maysville, W.Va.; five sons, Paul J. VanMeter, Dale W.
VanMeter and Shawn VanMeter, all of Maysville, W.Va., Dennis Eugene VanMeter of
Antioch, W.Va., and Michael VanMeter of Caldwell, Ohio; a stepson, Wayne Kimble
of Franklin, W.Va.; three brothers, David VanMeter of Maysville, W.Va., William
VanMeter of Burlington, W.Va., and Everett VanMeter of Grant County Nursing Home
in Petersburg, W.Va., 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Gary Phillips will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel
of the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will be in the Cherry
Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract, W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
