Richard Kenneth VanMeter, 53, Leawood, KS, passed away Monday, August 21, 2000, at Menorah Medical Park. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 25, at St. Therese Little Flower, 5814 Euclid. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 24, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Rockhurst High School, St. Therese Little Flower or Coaches V Cancer, Attn: Cheryl Washington, 33 E. Broadway, Ste 100, Columbia, MO 65203. Mr. VanMeter was born, May 27, 1947, in Marshall, MO. Dick grew up near Corder, MO and graduated from University of Missouri, Columbia. He was employed for 17 years with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline;15 years with Black and Veatch; and recently was employed with Burns and McDonnel. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Gerri VanMeter; sons, Jonathan Tabb and Patrick Joseph VanMeter; sisters, Mary Jane Hays, Dallas, TX and Margaret VanMeter, Overland Park, KS; niece, Michele Hays Schmidt, Warrenville, IL; and nephews, Jimmy Jertson, Glendale, AZ, Marty Jertson, Boulder, CO, amd Paul, Tom, and Dan Meyer, all of Appleton, WI.
