Sharon Kay Van Meter

Sharon Kay Van Meter, 46, Independence, died Sept. 24, 1991, at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Van Meter was a data transcriber for the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Independence. Survivors include her husband, Douglas M. Van Meter of the home; a brother, John A. Mais, Lee's Summit; a sister, Delta Darlene Vandawalker, Mary, Utah; and her maternal grandfather, John Cecil Thiry, Olathe. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Newcomer's Floral Hills Chapel; burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Leukemia Society of America.
