Thomas P. Van Meter

Thomas P. Van Meter, Jr., age 68, of Orange Park, FL and formerly of Bridgeton, NJ, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 18, 2010 while in Bridgeton. Mr. Van Meter was the son of the late Thomas P. Van Meter and Mary Holding Van Meter. The husband of Patricia Williams Van Meter, he was born in Bridgeton on February 9, 1942. He and his wife had been Florida residents since 1983 and had lived in Williamstown prior to that. Before his retirement, Mr. Van Meter owned and operated Windmill Building Services in the Jacksonville, FL area for over 20 years. He also was previously employed with the Palm Beach Post Newspaper, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Bulletin. He was a veteran having served with the United States Army and was an avid fisherman. In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by two daughters, Christine Van Meter of West Deptford, NJ and Jeri Van Meter of Jacksonville, FL and a grandson, T.J. Mason of Jacksonville, FL. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township, NJ on Wednesday, November 24th at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 AM.
