Vernon Van Meter

Vernon Van Meter, 70, of Harrah, went to be with our Lord on Sept. 16, 2006. He was born in Checotah, OK to Dave and Bessie Viola (Emerson) Van Meter on Oct. 5, 1935. Vernon owned and operated his own oil field tank truck business and after selling his business he worked part time at Brookside Golf Course where he was also an avid golfer. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 2 grandchildren. Vernon is survived by the love of his life, his wife Louise, 1 son Ron Van Meter and wife Karen, 2 daughters, Neva and husband Mike Stepp, Dianne and husband Larry Phillips, 7 grandchildren and their 4 spouses, 3 2/3 great grandchildren, and 3 brothers and their spouses. The family will greet friends at the funeral home this evening, Tuesday Sept. 19, 2006 from 6-8:00 PM. Services to celebrate his life will be at 1:00PM Wednesday Sept. 20, 2006 at the Airport Assembly of God Church 3425 SW 44th St.
