Walter Dell Van Metre

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for Walter Dell Van Metre, who died Oct. 31 at age 79.

Walter Dell Van Metre was born July 18, 1929, in The Dalles. He served in the Army and moved in 1951 to Portland, where he was a bindery foreman for NuWay Printing for 40 years. He later lived in Crooked River Ranch and Aurora before moving to Vancouver in 2005. In 1951, he married Emma Vogele.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Patricia Lee, Linda Bay, Carol Lambrecht and Laura Calhoun; son, Tom; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
