WILLIAM J. VAN METER 

WILLIAM J. VAN METER JR., 86, of Westville, died Thursday at Underwood- Memorial Hospital, Woodbury.

Mr. Van Meter worked 30 years as a tool-shop employee for New York Shipbuilding Co. in Camden before retiring in 1965. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Glassboro Sportsmen's Club. Born in Camden, he lived much of his life in Gloucester City before moving to Westville 10 years ago.

Survivors: a son, James F. of Westville; two grandchildren, and a brother, Charles of Cape May Court House.

Services: viewing, noon tomorrow, Davis Funeral Home, 171 Delaware St., Woodbury; funeral, 1 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home; burial, Harleigh Cemetery, Camden.
