Mr. William John Van Meter, 97, a resident of Elizabethtown Nursing Center, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Bladen Co. Hospital in Elizabethtown, NC.

Mr. Van Meter was a retired farmer and member of Harmony Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel King Van Meter, and son, Kenneth Van Meter; 3 brothers, Earl, Edwin, Raymond Van Meter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Harmony Presbyterian Church, by the Reverend Herbert Pate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana.

Mr. Van Meter is survived by 1 son, Larry W. Van Meter of Maple Grove, Minnesota; 2 daughters, Rosalyn J. Clem of Ivanhoe, NC, Shirley A. Johnson of Wichita, Kansas; 2 special friends, Marilyn Hoffman of Metamora, Indiana, Anna Mae Anders of Ivanhoe, NC; 5 grandchildren, Lisa K. Perry, Todd Van Meter, Laura Brandon, T. Russell Clem, William H. Clem.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Presbyterian Church, 5340 Tomahawk Hwy., Harrells, NC 28444.
