Was postmaster for Pickaway Post Office when it was established on Sept. 1, 1857 till its closing Feb. 27, 1865.
Lived on the Pickaway homestead till after the Civil War then in 1869 moved to Marshall Co., Iowa with his brother Jeptha, both setting on farms seven miles northwest of State Center, Iowa.  He remained there till his death.
